GET TO KNOW ME

Therapist's profile picture

Hi, my name is Daksha Arora. It is important that you know a little about me to make an informed choice in working with me. Working with a therapist and sharing your vulnerabilities is difficult enough. You want to be matched with just the person! A person with whom you can feel comfortable sharing your life story without any inhibitions while receiving compassionate non-judgmental support and professional resources that help you meet your goals.

It is helpful if you think of counseling therapy as part of your wellness plan. If you can go to the primary care doctor for your physical health, go to the gym for physical fitness, and even take your car to the garage for regular maintenance, why not take care of your emotional, mental, spiritual, and cognitive wellness for your overall well-being; I can help.

I customize my approach to your needs,  goals, and style or preferences.

Here's some information about me and I welcome any questions you may have.

I am bi-cultural, a balanced integration of two cultures, the one in which I was born (India) and the one in which I matured (America). In straddling the two cultures while establishing my own identity, career, and family, I have overcome many challenges that have influenced who I am, both as a human being and a therapist. Through all the many experiences of life, I have come to believe that it is really important to live this one life we have with peace, purpose, satisfaction, & serenity. Regardless of what is going on in your life, there are ways to maintain an inner sense of calm at the core while also giving yourself permission to feel vulnerable & do what needs to be done.

Of course, in addition to these personal experiences, I also have the necessary extensive education, professional training, & experience (scroll down) to ensure that I provide the best possible, ethical, professional, solutions-oriented, and effective therapy services.

Genuine, authentic, calming, passionate, solution-oriented, and collaborative are some of the words used to describe my style, approach, and personality. I incorporate the principles and practices of meditation, mindfulness, yoga, unconditional positive regard, acceptance without judgment, cultural sensitivity, and compassion in all my work. Whether your goals are to address any problems or challenges you may be experiencing or to just improve your quality of life, I will wholeheartedly work with you in a structured and organized manner to facilitate your achievement of goals and the change you are seeking. Safety, confidentiality, and collaboration are critical elements of my practice.

If I can't help you, I will help you find alternatives.

About Serene Therapy & Wellness

Serenity to Accept, Courage to Change, and Wisdom to Balance

After years of working in mental health services and research at local and national levels, I established the Serene Therapy and Wellness Center with the goal of helping individuals and families experience a serene (calm, peaceful, untroubled, unruffled) state of being in peaceful times and even in the most troubled times. With an equal emphasis on therapy and wellness, my services address concerns of emotional or mental unrest due to personal or interpersonal challenges, and in the absence of any major challenges, guidance for the wellness of mind and spirit for improved quality of life characterized by peace, satisfaction, and serenity.

About the tagline, I believe that the following affirmation holds a key in addressing many problems and in our quest for peace and balance:

May I have the...

Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

Courage (efforts and patience) to change the things I can change,

Wisdom to know the difference and balance both

AND

Ability to listen to and act on that wisdom! *
